Parent & Caregiver Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who participated in our spring Parent & Caregiver Survey. The information you shared is crucial to helping us improve systems within our schools to better serve our students.

What Families are Loving
Here are some of the things families say are working well in our schools:

Caring and Supportive Staff
Families appreciate the kindness, dedication, and care shown by teachers, principals, and support staff.
Strong Communication
Tools like ParentSquare, weekly folders, and teacher check-ins are helping families stay connected and informed.
Safe and Inclusive Environment
Many families feel their children are safe, welcomed, and supported—no matter their background or needs.
Academic Growth and Support
Parents see their kids learning and growing, with teachers using different strategies to help each student succeed.
Fun and Meaningful Experiences
Families love events like talent shows, band concerts, reading nights, and PTO activities that bring the community together.

What Families Say Could Be Better
Families also shared some thoughtful ideas about how we can improve:
More Regular Updates
Families want more frequent communication from schools—especially about student progress, assignments, and ways to help at home.
Student Behavior and Discipline
Some parents are concerned about bullying and classroom behavior, and want to see clearer and more consistent consequences.
Challenge and Support for All Learners
Families want more academic challenge for advanced students and more support for those who need extra help.
Smaller Class Sizes and More Staff
Many noted that crowded classrooms and limited support staff make it harder for students and teachers alike.
Improved Facilities and Logistics
Families shared feedback about parking, playgrounds, lunch and recess times, and a need for safer walking routes and healthier meals.

Over the summer, our team will dig into this into this data to determine next steps. Thanks again to everyone who shared their thoughts, celebrations and concerns. We appreciate the time you took to complete it.

Summer Projects Underway Across Bethel!

We’re making the most of summer break with several improvement projects happening across the district to ensure our schools are safe, welcoming, and ready for learning this fall:
  • Willamette High School: A new roof is going up over the cafeteria, Powers Auditorium, and B-Bay, plus new carpet is being installed in the Instructional Technology Center.
  • Meadow View: The school kitchen is getting a brand-new floor.
  • Prairie Mountain: We’re repairing gutters and downspouts, and the elementary playground is being resurfaced.
  • Irving: A remodel is underway to update three Life Skills classrooms and two student bathrooms.
In addition, in accordance with state requirements, we are completing the installation of menstrual product dispensers in all K–8 female-identifying bathrooms and in gender-neutral bathrooms at schools that do not already have them.
Thank you for your continued support as we invest in our students, staff, and school environments!

Learn to Ride a Bike - A Free, All Ages, Drop-In Event For Not-Yet-Riders!e goes here

Sunday, August 24, 2:00-5:00 pm, Clear Lake Community Center (4646 Barger Dr. Eugene)

Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? Join Bethel, 4J and Springfield Safe Routes to School programs, the City of Eugene, the City of Springfield, and Shift Community Cycles for this fun event with bike checks, free helmets and information about bike share.
We’ll start with balancing and gliding without pedals or training wheels. Some will learn to pedal in one session, while others may need more practice to reach that final goal. You don’t need your own bike to participate, but please bring a helmet and bike if you have one.

Contact Safe Routes to School at Rachel.Tochen@bethel.k12.or.us or albee_b@4j.lane.edu with questions or to volunteer.

transportation request registration timeline with dates

Register now for bus transportation for 2025-26 school year

One important thing that you need to know is that we are introducing a new annual process for bus transportation requests. Beginning this year, all students must be registered each school year to receive transportation services. Families must complete a request form for each student who needs busing to and from school—even if you already provided busing information as part of the school registration process.
The Transportation Request Form for the 2025–2026 school year is now open and available on the Bethel School District website. The forms are also included below. Submitting this form helps ensure that qualifying students have a route assigned before the start of the school year.

Enrollment Reminder

Just a reminder to all Bethel families to please fill out your registration paperwork as soon as possible. This helps us plan for the upcoming school year.
